I've watched the years pass and nothing or nobody can solve who or what killed her. There was a recent private investigation. Apparently, no one knows anything concrete. I have followed this case since 1979. I have a theory. When Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald, Karyn's father, Irv Kupcinet, found mobster Paul "Red" Dorfman in Palm Springs (who at this time sported white hair.) He broke the news to him over the phone. "Sparky?" Dorfman gasped. "He wouldn't do that. He's a nebbish kind of guy." It's quite possible that Dorfman knew what would happen that day. I believe he did and was hiding out on Assassination weekend, avoiding questions geared at Chicago Mobsters. And here Kup finds him. Dorfman knew Ruby from way back.
At the same time Dorfman was in Palm Springs, so was Karyn Kupcinet; with Andrew Prine, Earl Holliman and his girl (rumored to be the petite TV star Lynn Loring -- red hair, big eyes -- who has since denied it.) The 4 were photographed together in Palm Springs, both girls in Mink stoles, black eyeliner and fake lashes.
How to get Ruby and the Chicago Mob out of the news in Chicago? What would work? A shock crime? Dorfman spoke to Irv Kupcinet by phone and possibly saw Karyn "Cookie" Kupcinet right there in Palm Springs as well. Everyone in Chicago knew Cookie. Why not knock off Cookie and blow Ruby out of the windy city once and for all?
A short time later, Frank Sinatra Jr was kidnapped at gun point. He was just starting out a musical career with Sinatra-type songs; no rock and roll. I think the Mob wanted to shake up Sinatra Sr. After all, who worked harder than Sinatra to get Kennedy elected in the first place?
